About DIPG / What is DIPG?

DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) is a rare and aggressive brain tumor found in children, usually in the brainstem (pons), where it affects vital functions such as breathing, walking, and swallowing.

It’s called “intrinsic” because it grows within the tissue of the brainstem, which makes it extremely difficult to remove surgically. Because DIPG develops deep within the brain and progresses quickly, early detection and awareness are vital.
